Many of the schools in Uganda under government care are faced with a number of problems ranging from limited finances to run the schools due to the poverty of the parents who cannot sustain the students in school in spite of the government intervention of providing free primary education. Due to this many of the students cannot afford to buy scholastic materials such as uniforms, books, pencils to mention but a few. As result the youth still fail to attend school.
With this in mind Humanity First Uganda moved out to look for such schools to support by providing uniforms to the learners. Nanyotso primary school was one of such schools in whose pupils were really in need of school uniforms. The young boys and girls in this school lacked uniforms and could therefore be disturbed daily by the school administration to go and purchase uniforms. Lack of uniforms in a class also makes the student feel very inferior from others. This makes him or her study with a lot of fear. Humanity First Uganda therefore, took measurements of students and instructed its students at the tailoring center in Budaka to make uniforms for the students so as to minimize on the costs of hiring people from outside.
We want to thank the management and staff of Humanity First Uganda for having helped these needy students. The idea of missing out on studies due to uniforms has for now been solved.
The District Education Officer, Manafwa
The district education office was very pleased with the project as it was the first of its kind in the district.
