In the event of a large scale disaster such as an earthquake, cyclone, hurricane, drought, floods, landslides, volcanic eruption, man-made conflict or tsunami, sometimes hundreds of thousands of people are killed, and millions displaced or hurt.

Humanity First Uganda always does a local assessment working with the local authorities, and then has processes in place to identify the gaps in service provision, and to quickly assemble and deploy national multi-disciplinary teams. Once on the ground, we work with other NGO’s and authorities to ensure a well coordinated and targeted response. We work with a range of international and local partners including UK International Search and Rescue (ISAR), ICRC, MSF, Aquabox, Oxfam, Dedon, Petzl, Save the Children, Salvation Army, World Water Works, United Nations agencies and other national agencies.

When a disaster strikes, quick response can drastically shrink the human toll, and help the community recover more quickly. However, even if you’re quick to respond, a couple weeks of relief work is rarely enough to get a community back to its baseline — much less ensure it is better prepared to face the next disaster. As part of a global network of volunteer-driven national organizations, Humanity First Uganda provides crucial disaster relief supplies and on the ground assistance. Leveraging the generous support of our donors and selfless work of volunteers, we provide quick and effective medical aid, food, shelter and other supplies in various countries around the world.

Humanity First works with Healthcare authorities in Uganda at national, district and rural level to assess and improve healthcare processes and techniques in the area of Emergency Care, Maternal Health, Neonatal Health, Chronic Disease management and Disaster Response. We respond to natural disasters and man-made conflicts to restore communities and ease suffering caused by disasters. Its national presence enables emergency assistance that includes fixed/mobile stations, Shelter, Water, First Aid, food, clothing, emergency transportations and primary medical care. Humanity First Uganda is able to provide an emergency multi-disciplinary team at short notice, with our multi-skilled teams trained to work to our national procedures.

Our teams are trained and equipped to assist in disaster relief ranging from earthquakes to droughts; providing emergency medicine, temporary shelter, food, clean water, sanitation and rebuilding infrastructure in impacted communities. We deal with the humanitarian aspect of emergencies and aim to reduce the harmful effects of hazards. We are always prepared to respond in life-saving relief for families, whether that be natural disasters or conflict zones.
